How long does it take to install a shelter?
Usually about three or four days. A really big shelter could take a week. We'll confirm the precise time needed when we carry out the initial survey.
How much do your shelters cost?
Costs are based on the size of the area to be covered. As soon as we survey the site and know the exact size, we can give you the exact price.
Does BSB cover the whole UK?
Absolutely. There are very few places we haven't visited yet!
Are there any additional costs involved?
No. The price we quote is for absolutely everything.
What happens if something goes wrong?
We'll come straight back and fix it at our expense. There's a five year guarantee on everything. Please click here to read our warranty.
How much does a survey cost?
Nothing. There will be no cost to the school until you confirm that you wish to go ahead.
Will we need to get planning permission?
Usually no, but if the shelter is particularly large and it's to be sited very close to the school perimeter, it might be a good idea to check with your Local Authority. We've never heard of permission being refused.
You use steel in your construction. Why?
Steel is strong, durable, cheaper than aluminium, easy to work with and can be fully recyled. It's heavy but in an outdoor shelter, that's a good thing.
Should we get the ground prepared first?
No. We take care of everything from the foundations to the roof. All we'll need is a power socket and access to a toilet. And of course we clear everything away and make good afterwards.
Can the shelter be extended at a later date?
No problem. All our designs take the future into account and many schools extend their shelters as their needs change. We follow the original design exactly so it all fits together beautifully.
How far in advance do we need to order?
Typically four to six weeks. We'll agree the actual installation date when you place your order.
Will we have to do a risk assessment?
Every school has it's own protocols for things like this, we'll provide you with complete HSE standard Method and Risk documentation.
